The man alleged to have shot another man in the stomach and then evaded police has been caught.
He was remanded in custody after appearing in the Palmerston North District Court on Thursday, charged with shooting someone with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police said a 28-year-old Palmerston North man was shot three times in the stomach on Tuesday and was admitted to Palmerston North Hospital. He was discharged on Thursday.
The armed offenders squad swarmed on Ronberg St in Highbury on Tuesday, after reports of shots being fired.
Police are still seeking a second person over the incident and asked anyone with information to come forward.
In particular, police said 25-year-old Levin man Wheturangi Tauhore, could help with their inquiries.
Police are urging Tauhore to come forward and asked that anyone with
information on his whereabouts contact them.
