The world premiere of New Zealand documentary ‘Seven Rivers Walking - Haere Mārire’, currently touring New Zealand is coming to Levin on Saturday. It will be followed by discussion afterwards chaired by Dr Mike Joy. Kathleen Gallagher's latest environmental film was a sellout attracting 800 to the launch in Christchurch last month.
The documentary is about a group of Canterbury people who spent seven weekends walking the seven Canterbury rivers to visually prove how once pure rivers and waterways have been poisoned, depleted and degraded in order to profit industry and agriculture.
This film uncovers the water crisis that is fast looming and focuses on how the waterways can recover.
The film screens on Saturday September 15, at Focal Point Cinema, 3.30pm, followed by a discussion with locals chaired by Dr Mike Joy.
