Maoriland Film Fest Launched

March 21, 2018

The Maoriland annual film festival launched in Otaki last night with a full whare at Rangiātea with Keynote speaker Rāwiri Paratene.

The evening was a little gloomy but it was great weather for stories. The opening feature included - Birkebeinerne - The Last King

Maoriland is a 5-day indigenous film festival that focuses on celebrating creative indigenous people from all over the world.

The event - which is celebrating its 5th year anniversary - involves film screenings, art exhibitions and workshops with over 65 international guests due to descend on Ōtaki!

Organisers say this is the biggest festival yet and they are looking forward to hosting filmmakers and lovers of film alike.
