Kapiti - Transit Point for Drugs

March 26, 2018

The Kapiti Coast is being used as a transit point for drug-running between Wellington and Palmerston North.

Ahead of a “Stop the Ripple of Methamphetamine” meeting being held in Kapiti tonight, Mayor K Gurunathan told Beach FM that gangs are amongst those profiting from the manufacture and supply of drugs, including P.

He says, while he knows that some gangs are stationed in Kapiti, according to Police, Kapiti is mostly used as a transit area for running drugs between Palmerston North and the Capital.

Mayor Guru will chair the 7pm forum at the Coast Community Church, 57 Hinemoa Street, Paraparaumu, that will discuss the impact the drug commonly called P is having on social, criminal and mental health problems in Kapiti.
