Children's writer and long-time environmental educator Bianca Begovich introduced her latest series of environmental story books at Nga Manu Reserve recently.
Mandy Hager launched the books for Bianca and there were performances by local musicians Paul Brady & Gary Allen and fabulous dance troupe Crows Feet Dance Collective.
There was a great turn out of local people, including Mayor K (Guru) Gurunathan.
Passionate about the environment, Bianca has more than 14 years experience working in environmental education. She has discovered that writing about the environment is just as much as teaching, talking about and exploring it.
Bianca has also published numerous newspaper articles, short stories and poems on topics ranging from politics to whitebait.
As part of her writing experience, she has tramped around the country looking at New Zealand's thriving and diverse array of plant life, as well as "some of the bad bits around where we pollute, and our water ways that are really stuffed".
You will soon be able to purchase Bianca's new environmental stories in the Ngā Manu Information Centre or you can buy them online.
