More than 62,000 people have visited Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom centre in Foxton since it opened in November last year.
The Foxton Library issued 78 % more books in December 2017 compared with December 2016 and the centre has become an integral part of the community.
Hendrix Warren, Cultural and Community Centre Manager says “Being part of Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom has put our library at the heart of the community.
In addition Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom has maintained a busy and varied schedule of events and activities over summer.
Current and upcoming events at Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom and the Te Awahou Riverside Cultural Park include the interactive game Shadow Showdown, which runs until Friday 18 May; Pop-Up Eats on Wednesday 11 April; the Big Dutch Day Out on Saturday 28 April; and the Abel Tasman Exhibition from Saturday 28 April to Sunday 19 July.
Mr Warren says “Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom is giving people in Foxton opportunities they never had before, as well as attracting visitors from across and outside Horowhenua. It’s a great asset for our community and District,”
