New Levin Plant Plans Eco-Homes

April 11, 2018

Levin-based company Greenhaven Homes has secured land for a prefabrication plant, to build 80 relocatable eco homes a year by 2020.

The plant will be built on a 2.5 hectares site on Main South Road and is expected to be
completed next year.

Todd Strode-Penny of Greenhaven Homes says prefabrication means they’ll control the
environment, quality and cost of housing - ultimately providing a better service for
customers.

He says with prefabrication, they’ll be able to reduce the time needed to erect a home from 12 weeks of consent being granted, to nine weeks.

Horowhenua District Council Economic Development Manager Shanon Grainger says it’s
great to see a local company benefiting from the growth that is occurring across the district.

On average, Horowhenua will need 244 new homes every year for the next 20 years.
