Marine Education Centre Meeting

April 15, 2018

The group looking to convert the old Raumati pool into a marine education centre, is keen to get community feedback on the initiative.

Members of the public are invited to a meeting this Thursday night at the Kapiti Boating Club to give the Guardians of the Kapiti Marine Reserve to discuss the idea.

The proposed Marine Discovery Centre would be an attraction for visitors, as well as a place for locals to learn about the marine environment.

The centre would incorporate aquariums, classrooms and educational facilities, lecture and multimedia theatres, a virtual reality studio, as well as a souvenir/gift shop and cafe.

The group is looking to get funding from the Kapiti Coast District Council to prepare a feasibility study.

The meeting starts at 7pm.
