The Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board submission to the long-term plan, will include seeking prioritisation of Raumati projects.
Chair of the Paraparaumu-Raumati Community Board Johnny Best told Beach FM this morning that their submission being lodged today – the final day for long-term plan submissions – will seek funding for a Raumati town centre development project and assistance with a Raumati pool proposal.
Mr Best says that projects for the Raumati town centre had been deferred from 2012 until 2026, but the Board is requesting for some funding to support the development of the town centre earlier.
He says the Board is also supporting a request to Council to investigate the feasibility of a Marine Education Centre, that is being proposed by a local community group for the old Raumati pool.
Mr Best says there may also be an opportunity to seek funding from the Government’s Provincial Growth Fund for the proposed Marine complex.
He says if provincial fund was being allocated on a per capita basis, it would be expected that $20 million annually would be available to Kāpiti.
However, whether Kāpiti would get $20 million was another matter, he says.
