Unregistered Dog Owners Could Face $3000 Fine

Dog owners who don’t register their dogs, could face a fine of up to $3000.

 

The Kapiti District Council is reminding dog owners, that it’s dog registration time and you can even do it online now.

 

It's a legal requirement in New Zealand to register your dog annually, and there is a fee associated with this.

 

If you don't register your dog, you could be liable for fines of up to $3,000.

 

The council advises that If you're new to the area or have a new and/or unregistered dog, you'll need to register your pooch with the Council immediately.

 

The annual registration period runs from 1 July to 30 June with payment due by the and of July, with all dogs having to be registered by three months of age.
