New Local Speed Limit Changes

July 3, 2018

Kāpiti Coast District Council has confirmed new speed limits for 40 sections of local

roads in Kapiti, that will be effective from 13 August.

The full list of roads with the new speed limits can be found on the KCDC website.

It includes Maungakotukutuku Road in Paekakariki and Jacks Bush Road in Waikanae reducing from 100 km per hour to 60.

The changes come info force following consultation in April and May this year on

Stage 1 of a district wide review.

Council also took into account new national rules and guidelines for speed limits

administered by the NZ Transport Agency.

Harry Wilson, NZ Transport Agency Director, Safety and Environment commended

the Council on its review.

He says KCDC has done a great job applying the Speed Management Guide to

achieve speed limits that reflect the form and function of their road network and

importantly, make it safer for all road users.
