Local Ant Trial Promising

July 18, 2018

Deputy chair of the Paraparaumu/Raumati Community Board Guy Burns says initial trials to rid Raumati of Argentinian ants have been promising.

Speaking on Beach FM recently he said with 80% of residents in Dell Rd, Raumati South on board for the trial, the most successful baits were found to be the most cost effective home-made borax bait traps.

Mr Burns says the idea of the localised trial was to see if a bigger trial over the entire Kapiti Coast could be warranted.

Mr Burns says one of the biggest fears is that Argentinian ants could spread to Kapiti Island.
