Tranzit and Union to Meet

July 25, 2018

The Wellington's bus drivers' union will soon meet with Tranzit to try to get past their ongoing spat.

But even on this point there seems to be disagreement about when the long-awaited meeting will actually take place.

Tramways Union, in a statement, said it welcomed Tranzit's agreement to bargain over the Wellington bus dispute. A time had been set to meet at 10am on Friday.

Union secretary Kevin O'Sullivan says we've spent the last year and a half trying to get this sorted for our members and the public.

"Now Tranzit has agreed to bargain we need to get on with making sure Wellington's bus service gets back up on its feet as soon as possible."

Tranzit group managing director Paul Snelgrove confirmed there would soon be negotiations and an invitation to negotiate had arrived but Friday's 10am meeting was not locked in.

On Monday, he said Tranzit was open to discussing a possible collective agreement with the union.
