The Kapiti Coast District Council has apologised to two Paraparaumu/Raumati Community Board members for incorrectly stating their remuneration figures in the council’s annual report.
Beach FM reported yesterday that Paraparaumu/Raumati Community Board Deputy Chair Guy Burns was horrified and embarrassed that the KCDC 2017/18 Annual Report over-stated his payments.
Mr Burns says he was away for part of the year and asked not to be paid, “unlike councilors who continue to receive payment when on a leave of absence”.
He says that such a basic error reflects badly on the Council’s financial reporting system and he wondered what other errors have been made.
Janice McDougall, the Council’s Acting Group Manager Corporate Services confirmed that renumeration figures for Mr Burns and and Mr Bernie Randall were incorrect.
Mr Burns’ remuneration for the 2017/18 year was $6,000 not $10,000 as originally stated, and Mr Randall’s remuneration for the 2017/18 year was $10,000.
She says the figures in the online version of their Annual Report have been corrected and printed copies will also be amended.
She apologised for any embarrassment the errors may have caused.
