The family of missing Tararua ranges tramper Darren Myers remains hopeful as the search for the 49-year-old enters day nine.
Myers' brother-in-law Duncan Styles said though emotions had been up and down, the family
were remaining positive and said the search headquarters was busy on Sunday morning.
Police Search and Rescue incident controller Tony Matheson said the search teams, made up of volunteers and police officers, were also still positive about the search - though they also have to be realistic.
Yesterday there were five teams of three searching on foot.
There was no plan for further aerial searches.
