John Hayes

Heading Beach FM’s show “The Time Machine”, John has a complete broadcasting CV. He started as a technician at 4ZA in Invercargill 50 years ago, and since then has been involved in most aspects of broadcasting such as: sports, current affairs, continuity announcing, management and software development.   Most of his broadcasting has been in smaller stations in New Zealand,  but he has also worked on both commercial and non-commercial networks in both New Zealand and overseas. He was manager of the first station to open in Levin, and announced on the first day of permanent  broadcasting in the Kapiti/Horowhenua.  John has been part of the Beach FM team for more than 10 years, and is very  proud of it as one of the last examples of local radio.

Kick-Off Breakfast Sports Show

Martin Wilson

What started out as a paying hobby in broadcasting almost 30 years ago, became more of a way of life.  Have found that a background in corporate training and communication is also well suited to nattering away on radio.  Blessed to be part of the Beach FM family since the beginning of 2005, but started out on Stewart MacPherson’s Greater Wellington FM, and lucky enough to graduate to Wellington’s number one – 2ZB in the early 1990’s.  Incredibly fortunate to have worked with and learned from some ‘old school’ broadcasting legends over the years.  I’ve covered every on-air shift, but my current focus is as Breakfast Host and Local News Editor/Reader.  Just love contemporary music history and happy to share.  I play drums for my sins and to amuse the neighbours!  Me and the lovely Chrissie have six lively grandchildren between here and Australia. Life is just bloody marvellous and proud to be part of the Kapiti/Horowhenua community.
